I want to thank all of those who have supported my campaigns for City Council District 6, House District 16 and for the House District 22 seat. All of your steadfast support and many friendships, some for well over a decade, have been very much appreciated.
I have been honored to represent you all for two terms on City Council and for a term in the Colorado House of Representatives. While on the Utility Board, which I had the singular honor to chair for two years, I worked to keep rates as low as possible while ensuring that we had reliable energy and water. In Denver I have fought the other party's agenda on issue after issue and have fought for pro-life, energy security and freedom, against every tax and fee increase proposed, for school choice and transparency, to support our public safety agencies, and against many other bad ideas put forth by our political opponents.
Janice and I have evaluated our circumstances and due to personal family matters, we have come to the very hard decision that I should not continue in elected office after my current term ends in January 2023. I am therefore reluctantly suspending my campaign for the House District 22 seat.
While I am suspending my campaign, I will continue to represent the people of House District 16 until my term ends in January of 2023 and then step down from public elected office. I will continue to engage on those critical issues that face our city, our county, our state and our country from a different avenue.
I am encouraging my supporters to support City Councilmember Dave Donelson for HD-16 and Rachel Stovall for HD-17. This election cycle we have a good chance of taking the levers of power in Denver, and in Washington DC. We all need to keep our focus on winning the House and Senate in Colorado, the Governorship in Colorado, and the U.S. House and Senate.
Again, this has been a tremendous honor to serve you all in elected office and I am deeply grateful for all of your friendship and support.
Sincerely,
Andy
